I saw a pet store sign selling dog coats the other day. At first I was confused as to why they would sell dog fur coats in a pet store (indeed, that such an item even existed.) Then I figured it out.

A big mirror fell down in my house yet almost all of the antiques surrounding it miraculously survived. Will probably get the mirror redone. Surprisingly it wasn't someone knocking it over OR the rope wire holding it up breaking. Instead it was just so heavy that the nails fastening the rope to the the mirror literally ripped the backing apart. Inside the mirror? Sadly not a treasure map but a May 1, 1960 copy of the Daily Bulliten.

Funny mirror breaking story.

I go down after hearing it and see that everything is fine. I say, "So what all is broken?"

My mother replies, "It doesn't matter, everyone is okay."

So I say, "Yeah, but what all is broken?"

I looked at a Spanxed butt today. It was enjoyable, who could think a girl who wears Christian necklaces all the time would have such a lewd choice in underwear...

I remember! I was in a hotel canoeing with my dad. But zombiesque creatures (think more like orcs from LotR-being dug up from the ground,) were out to get me. They might have been acting like "normal" people but they were all crowding around and I could tell well enough they were up to no good. So I ran away and then they were blatantly running after me. I used the elevators to escape them, though it was tough, and then met up with an off-duty bartender who I was going to play pool with. I was a bit worried about this as I suck at pool but it didn't matter because then I woke up.

You probably could if you removed all the weirdness and gave it some sort of overarching plot to go with it. Thats true with most of my dreams.

Something is wrong with me.

Little known fact: I was actually Alex Cumsavorer, everyone else was having "so much fun" fucking with me that I decided to join in on it. Then Narcis banned the account after like a day and I had to unban it.

A weird post about Thomas the Tank Engine will now commence.

A day or so ago on /m/ someone posted about the new Thomas movie and in a fit of boredom I decided to download and watch it. Then I downloaded and watched the first season of the old stop-motion series. I'm typically against CGI but I have to admit, having the humans actually able to move made parts of the film a lot less awkward and even the trains could do more than they otherwise would. Other than that the film was a retelling of the first couple of stories so in essense I watched the same thing twice except the first one was made twenty-five years after the second. Here's some thoughts on the shows:

The engines are all seemingly pyschotic and take everything personally. An off-hand remark will lead to them doing their best to fuck with eachother and then when one crashes the others will gather round and make fun of it. Then five minutes later they are all friends again. The main engines basically only have three personalities, "cheeky", "stuck up" and "friendly" and will all alternate randomly between them.

Percy and Thomas are literally the same character as far as I can tell. All of Henry's appearences could easily be given to James, Gordon or Edward, he's essentially there just to fill in space.

James spends the whole show eating shit, he was my favorite one as a kid so I guess I've always liked underdogs. Rewatching these things though its obvious who the real star of the show was- Gordon steals any scene that he's in.

The engines aren't actually capible of coupling themselves, or making their own fires or even using their breaks. All they've been shown to be capible of is failing to speed up as fast as they should physically be able to and complaining about stuff so they are actually worse performers than an unthinking one would be. The first person in Thomas-world to build a non-sentient railway engine would quickly find himself a millionaire.

An "anatomically correct" engine would have its actual face facing backwards and body positioned like someone doing a crab walk. Its mouth would be where the coal is shoveled in, the water hole would be the nose and the smokestack would be the penis. There isn't an anus as engines remove their solid waste via their mouths, like an octopus.

Speaking of mouths, I bet that their mouths could easily rip off a human hand if you were to get too close while one was talking.

Maybe the isle of Sodor is actually part of the Maximum Overdrive universe. Its a place where all of the mentally ill machines who are incapible of living on their own are taken to be watched over by human prisoners and the Fat Controller is actually a Quisling who takes orders from his machine supervisors on the mainland.

I'd love to imagine having George Carlin- who appeared in some of the bumper segments added to the US version and redubbed a few shorts- and original UK narrator Ringo Starr do a co-narration with their real world personalities, making eachother miserable.

Speaking of George, I've seen a ton of his material but never really saw him mention or make light of this stuff. I guess he was pretty happy to be on childrens tv and wouldn't want to give off the wrong vibe by making a mockery of it years later but thats a bit too bad, I'm sure he had loads of funny things to say about it.

To end on a positive note, I do love the little model scenes in the eighties series. They must have taken a lot of work to make and some of them could be pretty brilliant. They must have taken a ton of work and some of the industrial scenes really went above and beyond.

Fun tidbit found while looking up Stephen King's wife:

"Janice Delaney commented on Small World, saying that the "hidden, embarrassing aspects of menstruation are given unusual treatment by Tabitha King".[30]"

Penn State sociology professor arrested after being a ranting socialist loony on a flight to Miami. Please excuse the lack of formating, if you want to read the article with a proper look and read her hilarious Q and A where she accuses the US of giving Hugo Chavez cancer you can click the link at the bottom of the article.

Penn State Abington Professor Speaks Out About Her Miami Arrest

Someone had a memorable spring break.

At left is the staff photo of Penn State Abington sociology professor Dr. Karen Halnon. But the photo on the right is what she looked like over the weekend when she was arrested at Miami International Airport after a bizarre incident on a plane. Last week was the school’s spring break.

Halnon was flying from Nicaragua to Miami when she let loose with a tirade about Venezuela, possibly a reaction to President Obama’s recent sanctions against Venezuelan authorities. As is the case with all airplane antics in the 21st Century, the passengers caught some of it on video. Here she is lighting a cigarette on the plane:

And here she is yelling about how "the United States has declared war on Venezuela" and about her "great hero Hugo Chavez":

Halnon is told that the police will be meeting her to arrest her, and she (relatively) calmly dismisses the comment, explaining, "I already know that, so I am going to say my piece."

Halnon has been a professor of sociology at Penn State Abington since 1999. Her academic papers and books have included "Women's Agency In Hysteria and Its Treatment," "Defending the Self In a Total Institution: Staff Prompting and Patient Burlesque," and the essay "The Power of 420" in The American Drug Scene: An Anthology.

Miami-Dade police charged the 52-year-old Willow Grove resident with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. She is no longer in custody. In 2013, she pleaded guilty to public drunkenness in Horsham Township.

Penn State officials have yet to comment on the incident. "We're trying to figure out what the next step is," said an employee in the school's office of communications.

But Halnon herself had plenty to say when we reached her on Tuesday morning.

Can you comment on your arrest and on the videos of you on the plane that are circulating?
I do have a comment. I know that I expressed an act of civil disobedience. But that act was necessary.

Why so?
I'm very knowledgable about that part of the world. I teach about U.S. imperialism in Latin America. And the U.S. has declared war against Venezuela. That means military aggression. They tried to take out Hugo with a coup, and then they took him out with cancer.

Oh?
It is my opinion — and Fidel agrees with me …

As in Castro?
Yes, Fidel agrees with me that the CIA had some involvement in giving him cancer, and so he died very sadly. And now Nicolas Maduro is the president and the U.S. somehow thinks this is a better position for the U.S. now.

It's not?
No, what they don't realize is that Maduro is carrying on the revolution. It's not like Raul in Cuba. There is every intention of carrying on the revolution. Fifty more years.

What is the revolution revolting against?
The problem is U.S. military global domination. And they want the oil. And they want the water. And so I found that this act was a necessary Thoreau-like act of civil disobedience. I had to speak out now. The situation is dire and urgent, and any sacrifice I make for my own self, if it saves lives — there have been far too many lives lost due to U.S. global military domination.

What happened once you landed in Miami?
The FBI and TSA tortured me. My voice generally doesn't sound like this. I was put in a room with two fans in the ceiling, it was freezing cold for hours and hours and hours. I asked repeatedly to go to the bathroom. They made me wet my pants. They humiliated me. And then to make matters worse, I have a stomach condition. Everything that comes in goes out. I've been like that for months since I left Cuba. I've lost over 30 pounds. And I was yelling that I had to go to the bathroom. But they ignored me, and I defecated on the floor. And they made me pick it up and laughed at me.

That's awful. But what of the cigarette? One reporter who covered your actions said that lighting a cigarette on a plane is just a little better than yelling "BOMB!"
Why did I have a lighter if there is such great national security? It was right in the top of my book bag.

Listen, the point is, I am a sociologist, and I live in an intellectual world. A sociologist always thinks in terms of symbols. And every revolutionary I know smokes. It was identifying with the revolutionary cause. And then, beyond that, it is a symbol that the United States is a smoking gun. The action was necessary. They are going to kill many more people.

Some people would look at that video and wonder if you were under the influence of a substance. And I know you pleaded guilty in 2013 in Horsham Township to public drunkenness. Do you have a substance abuse issue?
No. I do not have a substance abuse issue. I have had many sufferings in my life, but no. I had a little bottle of wine on the plane that I mixed with apple and cranberry juice over three drinks. A spritzer, if you will. But I wasn't drunk. I don't need alcohol to protest. This is my life.

I am passionate about being an anti-imperialist. To follow Jesus is to be with the poor, to be with the suffering, to be with the oppressed, and to be anti-imperialist.

I made some mistakes here, but it wasn't a mistake to speak out. I would do it again today. Ask anyone who knows me.

I've been informed that there is a no pay increase promotion in the works for me and to expect it soon. I am so excited. Also I am on a new schedule- 8 to 4 all day every (working) day. Fuck yeah, and just in time to NOT work eleven hour days due to seasonal buying trends. I still end up typically volunteering an extra two hours on Monday but, due to management's hatred of OT that means I get cut early on Friday and aces to that.

No, typically I have a boner.

Moving on... we have a new guy at work who happens to be fat and happens to be Asian. Someone jokingly told a supervisor that he is into sumo wrestling. The supervisor, being some sort of swarthy foreigner, misunderstood the joke and took it to be true, telling the new employee trainer about it. Keep in mind that the trainer is really a super nice guy. Apparantly he wanted to just crawl in a hole somewhere after asking our Asian friend about being a sumo wrestler....
